Beyond a Valentin’s Day at Silver Spring, Maryland
I’m familiar with the Silver Spring down town, Metro Plaza, Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Station and many more places in Maryland since I moved from Bangladesh. As usual, today February 14, 2018, I’ve reached Silver Spring Metro Station around 8:30am and took the path to plaza building, I found two little girls wearing very colorful dresses, with a very sweet smile came to me and gave me a yellow rose, which was magnificently wrapped and saying happy Valentine’s Day, it was never happened with me at least last few years in Silver Spring Metra Plaza. A couple was waiting in a bench with a bunch of yellow roses. The little girls were sprinted to the that couple’s bench and collected few yellow roses sticks and returned in front the elevator doing the same manners. I was bit curious to learn why they are doing this? To celebrate Valentine’s day? Or Something else? Inquisitiveness continuously knocking my head to go, go and ask them, why they are doing this thing? At last my intrusiveness won and I bound to went in front of them, and saying happy Valentin’s Day. The gentleman, looked like a Black American, said I’m Fred Adams, meet my wife Maria Antonia Adams (she was looked like a Chinese), also wishing you a very happy Valentine’s Day. I introduced myself to him and said, I’m usually coming in this plaza for last 4 years and this is for the first time I got this Valentine’s greetings in this area. Will you mind, if I bring some coffee for us and chocolates for these your kids, the coffee shop just behind your bench. I was not waiting for their response and moved from there. Soon I returned from the coffee shop, Fred again stand up and said “Thank you, please be sited”. About a couple minutes, we didn’t looked at each other and trying to test the warm coffee, should be dark roasted, creamer with vanilla flavor, outside temperature about 40o-42 o, turned coffee’s essences as more drastic for the situation. Mr. Fred called their daughters and introduced, meet my loving two daughters Malaiyah Adams, she is 9 years old and Mikaylah Adams, she is 5 years old. We are living in Silver Spring at 16th Street. Kids were going back for their roses distribution work and we were enjoying our coffee again.
Fred starts, I was 5 years old, when I lost my parents due to a road accident, me and my elder brother grew up from our grand mom, but we called her Mummy. We were living in DC downtown, after the incident our mummy moved with us in Silver Spring for giving us better education and culture, she started her career and uphold us as gentle man, like we grew-up with better living standard, we got better education, better playground and better living environment, only to ensured that, we were not orphans.
Maria starts herself saying, hey I’m Maria, my family and friends are calling me Mariant, I’m from Philippines. English as a language generally used in our country as for educational, governmental and commercial purposes and is widely understood since it is the medium of instruction in schools. The Philippines are the third largest group of English speaking people in the world, after the United States and the United Kingdom. I've moved to New York, USA about 16 years ago with my elder sister. Initially we struggled a lot, worked as maid, then we moved to Maryland. One of my friend introduced me with Fred in her party and we became friend, very good friend, but it was not love. After a year, we start dating and believe we were in love, then we start living together, his mummy was living at his elder brother’s house, and she inspired a lot to Fred, though if you are loving each other, better you get married instead of living relationship. When we get married in 2008 it was February 14, means on Valentine’s day. We celebrate our first anniversary with distributing 101 yellow roses to our nearest church. Because, Fred gave me a bucket of yellow roses on our first date. I was asked hey I always heard about, people always give the red roses, but you gave me yellow roses, it was fabulous, no doubt, but for the first time, I’m going to get the yellow roses for me. He said, yellow rose is idealistic shade and general relationship with positivity, yellow roses are the ideal method to toast companions, lift spirits and send a general wish for prosperity. Furthermore, that is extraordinary news for the individuals who adore roses—the rose is known for its basic, structural magnificence; however, a few hues are so stacked with centrality that they can be somewhat dubious to work with. Sending a get-well bunch of red roses to your clerical specialist may raise eyebrows around the workplace, for example. Get the job done it to state, you can never turn out badly with yellow roses. Again, Fred said, I personally like yellow roses, our mummy always gave us yellow roses in every Valentin’s day, she never missed to carry a bucket of yellow roses on that day. I also heard that, my mother also preferred for yellow roses as her favorite flower.

Mariant, starts again, our younger daughter Mikaylah, first raised the issue, hey Mom, every valentine’s day we gave yellow rose for church people, means we became too specific, love should not be specific, so why should we? Why not we are going to select somewhere, there are no barrier in human, in culture, in classification, in religious, where every people are countable as equal. Fred said, yes, I found in holy bible, “Ephesians 5:2 - and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” Love should be for all, there is no restriction, no boundaries and no precincts.
I was simply lost, only 9 years old kid Mikaylah, can change her parents’ whole believe, respects and admirations about humanity. Fred once more said, I was trying to convince her, dear Mikayla, try to understand, if we start distributing yellow roses in public place, we can’t provide 101, we’ll need more roses, she said, well than make it 1001. Fred was not shocked, he saying, when Mikaylah requesting me to distribute 1001 yellow roses in public place, I thought, it’s she, someone insist me from my inside, Fred, now flower counts should be 1001 instead of 101. Love should be for all.
Last year we started distributing 1001 yellow roses at Paul S Sarbanes Transit Center, this is just opposite of this building. It’s located next to our Red Line Metrorail station in Silver Spring and features more than 30 bus bays serving Metrobus, Montgomery County Ride-On, VanGo and the University of Maryland shuttle. Again, I asked, who was Paul S Sarbanes? Fred said, Paul Spyros Sarbanes is an American renown for a national revolutionist, politician, an attorney. An individual from the Democratic Party from Maryland he filled in as an individual from the United States House of Representatives from 1971 to 1977 and as a United States Senator from 1977 to 2007. We didn’t select Silver Spring as if we are living here, is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. Population about 18,000, making it the fourth most populous place in Maryland, after Baltimore, Columbia, and Germantown. Indeed, Silver Spring takes its name from a mica-flecked spring found there in 1840 by Francis Preston Blair, who consequently purchased a significant part of the encompassing area. Oak seed Park, concealed in a region of south Silver Spring far from the primary downtown zone, is accepted to be the site of the first spring. The downtown of Silver Spring simply designed as complete family theme park, everything you want, it’s here, movie theater, amusement park, water fountain, what not.

There are around 5 parks will make Silver Spring as additional loveliness from some other city. Shake Creek Park goes along the west side of Silver Spring, offers climbing trails, outing grounds, and bicycling on ends of the week, when its primary street, Beach Drive, is generally shut to engine vehicles. Sligo Creek Park finishes Sligo Creek Silver Spring; it offers climbing trails, tennis courts, play areas and bicycling. The last is encouraged on ends of the week, when parts of Sligo Creek Parkway are shut to autos. The bicycle trails are winding and slower than most in the area. As of late, rocks have been spread along either side of the street, giving a risky bicycle ride, or skating relaxation. Oak seed Park in the downtown region of Silver Spring is accepted to be the site of the eponymous "silver spring". Brookside Gardens is a 50-section of land (20 ha) stop inside Wheaton Regional Park, in "more noteworthy" Silver Spring. This stop is a piece of Silver Spring and expands more distant inside Montgomery County. Note that the Rachel Carson Greenway Trail is named after Rachel Carson, creator of Silent Spring and previous occupant of Silver Spring.
After some great experiences from last year, we decided to celebrate our this Valentine's day at Silver Spring Metro Plaza, by the way, next year we’ll celebrate at Silver Spring Downtown, you are cordially invited.
In conclusion, today a couple of cute little girls, who are some like Chinese and some black American mixed came to me, gave a yellow rose, which was magnificently wrapped and said happy Valentine’s Day. It never happened to me, Valentine’s Day greeting received from 2 little girls, and they continued doing this thing, I feel so curious about these kids and I found their parents are sitting in a bench and supporting them to distribute this greeting to all visitors of the Silver Spring Metro Plaza. I went in front of that couple and build a friendship and I’ve learned how a different culture build a relationship of love? How 4 years little girl changed her parents mind to distribute friendship and love through a yellow rose to 1001 visitors of Silver Spring’s busy areas in the Valentine’s day. We are still learning, no matter from where, but we are learning.
